THAT question is the #1 question that SHOULD BE being asked, WHAT THE HELL were they doing out in HEAVY, HEAVY, winds and rains!!!
I don’t care how good the helicopter is they were fling in conditions below minimums.
CH53E is a heavy-lift copter with 3(?) engines. Not seemingly a delicate flower, though it does seem to be high maintenance like most helicopters. Interesting to hear what someone familiar with them says.
exactly
it’s got a hundred-foot rotor span, or thereabouts. here ends my expertise.
But suppose they knew they were going down. It was found off course. Maybe they jumped 2, 3, 4 miles before the site...I have to think they all had chutes and all had radios.
There hasn’t been a single article confirming that anyone has put their eyes on the subject helo. ALL, yes all of the articles stating that the helo. has been found are categorically disingenuous clickbait.
I have spent hours combing the web for confirmation of the finding of the helo. Many articles state that the helo. has been found and SAR teams are looking for the five member crew, as if the helo. was disabled, made a controlled landing, and the crew then embarked on a cross country trek to an unknown location.
There’s another thread with about 100 posts where my contributions are posted, and others here at FR have chimed in about the “found” helo.
There is only a last known ping location having originated from the a/c and that’s it, unless breaking news reports otherwise.
