Donald Trump has said the US air force was “cocked and loaded” to attack three Iranian targets on Friday morning, but he called off the strike with 10 minutes to spare after being told that the airstrike might kill as many as 150 people. Trump said in a series of morning tweets that he decided late on Thursday that the death toll was not a proportionate response to the Iranian shooting down of a US spy drone off the Iranian coast 24 hours earlier.
The tweets revealed how close the world may have come to a Middle East conflagration, and raised questions over why the commander-in-chief was told so late in the planning of a military operation about the predicted loss of life involved. It would be routine for a president to be informed of the likely civilian casualties when the options are first presented. Trump tweeted: “We were cocked & loaded to retaliate last night on 3 different sights when I asked, ‘How many will die?’ ‘150 people, sir’, was the answer from a General. 10 minutes before the strike I stopped it, not … proportionate to shooting down an unmanned drone. “I am in no hurry, our Military is rebuilt, new, and ready to go, by far the best in the world. Sanctions are biting & more added last night. Iran can NEVER have Nuclear Weapons, not against the USA, and not against the WORLD!”

There is more to that story than just Trump said stop. There was a whole host of bombers and drones in the air, all visible on Iran’s radar, prepared to hit secondary targets if they did anything else. Iran totally backed down and did nothing for the rest of Trump’s term. He scared the dishdashah off of them.
It was all part of a process. At the very same time Trump was disengaging. Trump off’d the MFer because he was screwing up Trump’s peace process. If the Pentagon wasn’t full of traitors, those boys killed would have been brought home before Trump left office. The Iranians recognized that. Like with Little Rocket Man, Trump would have bargained the Iranians into a deal. If we can avoid this well laid neocon trap, Trump might still make peace with the Ayatollah.
You've basically justified the 9/11 attacks on the U.S., since Lower Manhattan in NYC and the Pentagon in Virginia are the commercial and military centers of the "Great Satan."

In WWII bombers were lucky if they hit within 500 yards of their assigned targets. That’s well documented. Dropping thousands of tons of explosives was the only way to ensure destruction and even then it was a dicey proposition at best.

The Allies didn’t hijack German commercial aircraft and fly turn them into guided missiles. And you’re forgetting that Hitler was launching hundreds of V1 and V2 missiles into London without any regard for where they were landing.
At one point he was killing more civilians in England than he was Allied troops in the battlefield. He wanted “total war” and that’s exactly what he got.
And, just for grins, you can add the atrocities the Japanese were committing all across Asia. And it’s fair to point up that the Japanese weren’t signatories to the Geneva Conventions in WWII.

Your point is that we may have cared, but we couldn't do anything about it because aerial bombing was imprecise by its nature in the 1940s.

War must be fought quickly and overwelmingly. It should be s last resort, but once inceated it should be total.
We got nothing out of it.
This is the way it should be done, on a case buy case basis. Thos is VERY different than our troops coming under attack.
