Russia's parliament is considering new legislation which would give the state the power to seize the property of people convicted for defamation of the armed forces or for calling publicly for actions that undermine state security.
-snip-
The move has drawn comparisons with the witch hunts of the 1930s under Soviet dictator Josef Stalin with their 'enemy of the state' rhetoric, and could affect thousands of Russians who have spoken out against Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.
The speaker of the State Duma lower house of parliament, Vyacheslav Volodin, a close ally of President Vladimir Putin, has dubbed the new bill 'the scoundrel law'.
'Everyone who tries to destroy Russia, betrays it, must be published accordingly and repay the damage to the country in the form of their property,' he said at the weekend while announcing the submission of the bill.

Please! Please quit giving ideas to U.S. communists!
The iron hand of the State is being used in Russia to punish people who disrespect Russia.
In the USA, the iron hand of the State is being used to punish people who love and respect their country and don’t want to see it turned into a gender-confused terrorist-dominated latrine.
I love this for some reason. Has nothing to do with system failure. It has to do with keeping people down. You can swallow it if you have a mortgage(the US) but if family members are put in harms way at some point it gets to be too much. Then the leadership has to be afraid of their position and will act out as such. You start out wanting to believe in them and you give them the benefit of the doubt-up to a point.
Think Bush and WMD.
I just read about the bio of Amy Biehl. Her parents completely forgave her killers, the people she was trying to help.
I have no reason to doubt this. I hope USA does not send one more cent to Putin.
In Ukraine it’s different. No one speaks out because the opposition has been outlawed. Not to worry, the Ukes can voice their concerns at the ballot box. Nope, elections are cancelled in Ukraine. Well, at least the Ukes can go to church to seek comfort. Nope, Z has outlawed the Orthodox Church. Can’t Uke men gather on the streets to voice their concerns? Yes, if they are 14 or younger or 70 and older. Otherwise, those 16 and 65 year protestors will be snapped up by the press gangs and shipped immediately to the meat grinder. But who’d possibly complain in the Globohomo promised land satrapy of Ukraine.
Coming soon to a location near you. IOW, if you don’t condemn Jan 6th,..........
And the Putinista contingent on Free Republic will be pleased to hear this.
Some of them may even feel a thrill going up their leg (ala Chris Matthews)...

Seizing property or seizing men... and now women. War is Hell.

Ukraine’s puppet Zelinskyy simply banned his political opponents and jails them.
Are eggs property?
Jao Xiden is laughing.
Um, Ukraine arrested and MURDERED a US citizen, Gonzalo Lira, who was a critic of the war. Imprisonment or murder is what happens to dissents in Ukraine. And, you couldn’t care less.
how’s the weather up North?
What if you rent one of those crappy communist-style apartments? What will they take? Your toaster?
Can this happen in Russia? Sure. Has it happened in Ukraine? Yes indeed. Is it on its way here. You bet. Perhaps too late?
