Evangelical: A form of Christian (Generally a Protosant though there are Evangelical Catholics) who believes the primary focus of a Christian is evangelism of the unsaved. Christian: Basically the Nicene Creed. Someone who believes that Jesus has died for their sins. He was crucified, died, and rose again. That he is the only son of the only God. Not a prophet, not a good man but uniquely 100% man and 100% God. That he will return again, to judge the world of it’s sin

Rather, an Evangelical overall signified one who experienced Biblical regeneration, being spiritually born of the Spirit (Jn. 3:2-7) by effectual penitent, heart-purifying, faith in the Divine Son of God and Lord of all, (Acts 10:43-47; 15:7-9) sent be the Father to be the Savior of the world, (1 Jn. 4:14) who saves sinners by His sinless shed blood, on His account, not theirs. And which is to be shown in baptism and following the Lord.

And who thus see evangelization of the lost as a priority, and and esteem Scripture as the sure, supreme accurate standard of Divine Truth, having experienced its power. And thus they point souls directly to the Lord who saved them, versus emphasizing their church.

In contrast are multitude of profess faith, including the whole Nicene Creed, though its "baptism for the remission of sins" = baptism regeneration is not sound, (Acts 10:43-47; 15:7-9) with many/most of which presuming that that became Christian children of God via a ritual, and that their good life will merit them salvation in God's mercy and fairness.

And who thus tend to be liberal, and adverse to evangelicals, though as with "Christian" that term has become diluted over time. See stats here btwn Evangelicals and Catholics, somewhat dated, and I no longer see these type of polls being done (Barna actually effectively nuked all the links), no doubt partly due to complaints as to what they showed. Which distinguishes

Evangelist

a "publisher of glad tidings;" a missionary preacher of the gospel (Eph. 4:11). This title is applied to Philip (Acts 21:8), who appears to have gone from city to city preaching the word (8:4, 40). Judging from the case of Philip, evangelists had neither the authority of an apostle, nor the gift of prophecy, nor the responsibility of pastoral supervision over a portion of the flock. They were itinerant preachers, having it as their special function to carry the gospel to places where it was previously unknown. The writers of the four Gospels are known as the Evangelists.

For me, I will gladly bear the title of "evangelist" and it is because of the Great Commission.

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20
