Rappers gotta rap. The same song 24/7? That would drive anyone nuts.

“his 11-year-old son J-Money”

Drug possession and intent to distribute......daddy sounds like terrific role model.

I assume there’s noise statutes on the books thst aren’t being enforced.

They are doing it on purpose because they know it annoys people.

Rap/HipHop is racist hate speech pushing a violent culture to feral animals.

It is NOT music.

It is an ugly form of indoctrination.

From the 1963 Congressional “45 Goals of Communism”:
23. Control art critics and directors of art museums. “Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art.”

(The same song 24/7?)

How can anyone tell the difference?

All I hear is BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM through nearly-destroyed speakers 🔊🔊🔊🔊

Such a vibrant culture!

Judge them by the conduct of their culture not by the color of their skin.

This old white guy's employer (who puts up DEI flyers) lets employees bring boom-boxes which, for me, makes a hostile work environment that would see ME fired for "cultural insensitivity" should I complain about it. Ironically the worst offender is a 29-year-old white man whose generation never listened to anything other than (c)rap. More than a million great songs out there and they choose monotonous pseudo-poetry promoting vile subject matter.

Which brings up this question: If the word "nigger" is so offensive to black people why do these talent-less 'artists' seem to use it in their recordings every chance possible?

Six years? I would think the use of amplification would be problematic. In most municipalities there are established noise levels acceptable from amplified equipment. Perhaps the PTB feel it would be racist to interrupt their culturally uplifting performance. If nothing else, pour a soft drink into their PA system. Do it again. They will surely tire of buying new equipment. I mean, if one were walking past them and became distracted due to their dulcet renderings, it would seem plausible that one might lose one’s footing and trip, therefore spilling orange soda onto their mixing console.

A neighborhood punk played his drums kitty corner to our home. I printed out the city noise ordinance and delivered an anonymous “night letter.” A week or so later there was mad particularly noisy drumming. But after that, quiet.

I confronted the same kid (young adult) about the cigarette butts he threw out of his jeep window. He always parked it at the same place. I picked them up to keep the street clean. He just kept doing it. A few months later he must have fallen asleep with a cigarette as the jeep burned up right there, and wasn’t replaced.

Thankfully that dysfunctional family isn’t there anymore.

Perfect, PERFECT example of worthless, do-nothing good gummit at a couple levels to put a simple ‘law’ into effect to limit the decibel levels in a public access area. But hey, it’s DC so maybe a good place to setup a granite crushing plant where noise isn’t an issue apparently.

"The same song 24/7? That would drive anyone nuts."

I guess that pretty much explains rappers in general...they're crazy, like their music..

I know DC is bad, but they can’t appeal to police or government AT ALL? Certainly public broadcasting like this must have daytime limits?

It seems like the whole story is a made up controversy. Why?

The teams aren’t moving for a few more years. Sports team owners all around the nation have threatened to move (or actually move) in order to secure public funding for their arenas, and this is just one more case of that happening.

The owner complained about the noise of the street performers, but business owners do stuff like that all the time. Six thousand dollars on soundproofing is barely a drop in the bucket for a billionaire, and someone as prominent as Leonsis could easily push an ordnance through to either get the rappers to move or stop the practice on the streets entirely.

There’s a video of the kid rapping on the link though... and wow is it annoying. The kid appears to have some sort of talent, but the delivery is terrible. If he did move the sports teams out of spite for that kid, I wouldn’t blame him.

A somewhat peripheral thought generated by this piece. No Sports Arena should be paid for by taxpayers. None.

Half billion dollar bonds to build these places for the benefit of a private company? Absolutely not. If the team or teams are so great and so good for the community then they’re profitable enough to build their own damn stadiums.

My business generates tax revenue for the local community, why shouldn’t the taxpayer build me a new office?

There’s a church across the street who has outdoor services whenever it’s warm who do the same thing. Sometimes using a loudspeaker to just shout at people about salvation for hours during the day.

Downloaded a decibel meter and it’s frequently over 100 and up to 120.

Crazy loud and annoying.
