The only way she might have been able to salvage any credibility as a VP contender would have been if she never ran for the GOP nomination in the first place.

If you want to see who the top contenders for the VP slot would be, focus on these characteristics:
1. Open support of Trump from the start of this campaign cycle.
2. A "safe" candidate from the standpoint of the GOP leadership (i.e., there will be no political outsider in this role).
3. Appeals to a key demographic group for a GOP candidate.
4. A personality that is very unlike Trump's (need a low-key candidate who will offset his brash, big-mouth New Yorker attitude).
Put these four together, and you see why I have said for three years now that Kristi Noem is the ideal VP candidate in 2024.
