And, according to some rather dogmatic people, there is no way anyone else like us in intelligence it out there.

“Awesome” doesn’t begin to describe those photos of only a miniscule part of our universe.
Thanks for posting.

Psalm 19 says it all
The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.

All great pictures! That’s the best picture of Jupiter I think I’ve ever seen.
The galaxy cluster SDSS J1038+4849 clearly shows gravitational lensing- Einstein was right-gravity bends light!
The Hubble Space Telescope has a great legacy. NASA didn’t get it right the first time, but they sure made up for it.

I have to say, after that first stumbling block with Hubble where the optics were screwed up, the engineering that took place to fix that problem, and the implementation was completely impressive to me.
When that piece of equipment finally decides it’s going to die, I wouldn’t mind seeing SpaceX go up there and grab the Hubble, and bring it down so I could spend the rest of its days in a museum… :-)

I’ve seen most of these because I check APOD every day, but it is nice to have this review of selected pictures to admire.
Thank you for posting this thread and the pictures.

Quite a gallery. Nova had a show last night on the Web telescope, the successor to the Hubble. Informative show about the telescope and deep-space astronomy.
