The weather on Sunday was beautiful, so my son and I headed to the coast for a late lunch / early dinner. We went to the Moss Beach Distillery around 3 pm, but it was so crowded that we didn't stay and went a couple miles south to Princeton-by-the-Sea to dine at Mezza Luna (great place, by the way).

Around 10 pm Sunday, my son read about this crash. Turns out people eating at the Moss Beach Distillery heard and saw it happen. The Half Moon Bay airport is very close by, less than a mile away.

Another article in the "San Francisco Standard" reported:

Melissa Richter was dining on a patio at Moss Beach Distillery when she said she heard an engine losing power, "like you hear in the movies, when a plane is about to crash." The plane came over the top of the building, she said.

"We figured something was wrong, because it was so close to the restaurant," Richter told KRON-TV. She said the engine cut out, and the plane "banked in, and we lost sight of it at that point."

I remember going to Half Moon Bay beach a number of years ago. The waves were scary big. There were signs too warning visitors of ‘waves of unusual size and force’

Mezza Luna? Same people who ran the one in Brentwood implicated in the Simpson/Goldman murders?
