I remember going to Half Moon Bay beach a number of years ago. The waves were scary big. There were signs too warning visitors of ‘waves of unusual size and force’
Sharks too. But it is the site of the Mavericks for surfing competition, so yes, big waves.
The waves breaking on the reef at Mavericks off of Pillar Point (close by) were 40 ft high a couple weeks ago.
