NEVER trust google. Google CAN get you killed.
“Grand County Sheriff’s Office is urging motorists to verify and review their travel plans instead of solely relying on apps”
Was this ever a thing?
Must be Los Angeles transplants.
We were coming back from northern New Mexico before Christmas and the phone thang took me to a 13-mile section of dirt road covered in snow.
Was sending people too close to rich people properties. They don’t want the unwashed driving by.
Never use Google maps to navigate. Google Maps is only good for informational purposes to see places and locations you may want to go to. Using Google maps to actually go there is a bad idea.
I live off of 2 decent roads. Google however would direct drivers to take a route through a secluded neighborhood. To “save” one minute.
went to look for a Florida gulfcoast beach my dad used to take us to when much younger. it was a well maintained government beach back in the day so wanted to relive a little history and explore the area. Google maps took us to the the beach alright. the government had sold the entire beach so it was all private homes except for the tiny area the residents left open for public use. decided to just explore the area so back to Google maps. there were what looked to be major roads, minor roads and platted neighborhoods close by so we followed one of the major roads in an adventure. paved roads turned into dirt roads that turned into logging roads that turned into logging truck and machinery ruts filled with mud and water. not a soul to speak of. just palmettos and scrub pines. barely got out thinking, what if we had gotten stuck out there? still use maps but only when close already and can SEE civilization.
Unless you have an emergency, even the main highways are bad. Stay home. It will warm up tomorrow.
Or the electronically dependent could just stay out of the mountains.
Mountains are like honey badgers. They don’t care! :)
