Russian-state television pundit Aleksandr Sytin recently warned that life "keeps getting worse" in Russia amid its war with Ukraine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin launched his invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, claiming to seek the "denazification" of the Eastern European country's government and hoping for a quick victory. Nearly two years later, Ukraine's stronger-than-anticipated defense effort has blocked Russian advances, and both sides continue fighting for control of eastern Ukrainian territory.
The Russian military has faced myriad challenges amid the conflict, including troubles recruiting and maintaining well-trained, disciplined troops. Military analysts have noted that Putin's troops lack motivation, and questions about the treatment of troops have been raised after a video emerged online appearing to show soldiers being thrown into a pit for refusing to fight.

One thing that everyone can agree on, is that Russia is being militarily depleted at an astonishing rate. They lose more gear than they are able to produce.
While some in the US say that the 8% of Americas military budget given to Ukraine will ruin America... Just imagine what Russia has to deal with... Because of their mismanaged and failed war they have now been forced to set 41%(!) of Russia’s ENTIRE national budget to cope with the Ukraine war! Beyond utter madness!

I think it’s true as the first big move was to try to take Kiev by landing forces at the airport followed by a column or two of ground forces driving into Kiev from the border.
The Rooskies didn’t overcome the locals there within a couple of days, so it was off to Plan B.

UPDATE: The A-50 & IL-22M aircraft were being escorted by a Su-30SM and the pilots observed the planes getting hit, likely by Ukrainian PATRIOT missiles. Russian military helicopters on the way to search for wreckage.
