So, you believe that a self-absorbed daughter is entitled to whatever type of wedding she wants and that her father is somehow obligated to pay the bill?
If it wasn't so sad, it would be funny. She says she's independent but needs her dad to pay the bill. The girl has typical liberal thinking, "I have the right to spend other people's money any way I like." She's going to learn the hard way that the world (and her father) doesn't revolve around her.

I think it’s a matter of degree. Perhaps I wasn’t clear enough about that. If a self-absorbed daughter (and this one certainly is self-absorbed) asked for something insane, then the father would have good reason to back out.
For example, suppose the daughter wanted to get married in a satanic ceremony? That’s insane. I could certainly see a father refusing to fund that.
Don’t get me wrong. The daughter is off-base here. But not so much that the father should risk losing her. Better that the father bends a little, and give her her day. And hope with time the daughter grows up.
