I am pretty sure that SBX is X-Band. Someone said that they are testing a high energy antiballistic missile system. There is certain irony in that, in that British radar designs were a fall out from an attempt to design a “death ray” to shoot bombers out of the sky. The analysis showed that it was not practical (using 193’s technology) but it was possible to “see” them. The atoll must have the most RF energy per square mile of any place on earth.

Yeah, it is. The C-Band really isn’t a targeting quality radar. More like a launch detection, etc. The SBX is an X-band different animal and more accurate. But the overall design of the C-Band was transitioned over to it.
