A friend of mine was still working in her 80th year. Her daughter asked her doctor about forcing her to retire and the doctor said bluntly that retiring would kill her. The family decided that they knew better. They forced her out and she was dead in five months.

Many people are like that. They need work it gives them an important sense of ... life? Purpose? The social aspect?

It was her life in her later years.

She started it in her fifties when her children were grown as a little hobby. Something to fill her time. It became her passion. Yes, she still was involved in church and with her grandchildren when they were around but this was something she had built from nothing. Gave her a reason to get up in the morning. When she no longer had that, why bother? Her husband had passed, her mother had passed and all her children lived out of state.

Can I say that was what killed her? Nah. But it did not help matters.

Leave the people who want to work alone to work.

Not all of us want to go fishing every day.
