"Don't Pull Your Love" is a song written by Brian Potter and Dennis Lambert which became a top ten hit single in 1971 for Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds.
Rumored to have been written with Elvis Presley in mind, and first recorded (as "Don't Pull Your Love Out") in 1970 by Country Store—an obscure group produced by the song's writers Lambert and Potter—"Don't Pull Your Love" had been optioned by ABC-Dunhill Records A&R vice-president Steve Barri to be recorded by the Grass Roots whom Barri had been producing for five years: however the Grass Roots passed on the song, which Barri recalls the group considered "a bit lightweight".

Awesome song!
Yes! So many great 70s songs never see the airways....
Didn’t like it. A happy loser is what it sounded like.
Absolutely love this song.
When I was younger I thought it WAS an Elvis song and couldnt figure out why I could never find it on his albums.
I think it was summer of... 20? 21?...While thrifting with a daughter I found the brand new original LP for 99 cents!
That song brings back memories. I hadn’t heard that about The Grassroots but this song would have fit them well, too.
It sounds more bubble gum than expected, I thought it was going to be one of those gritty prison songs.
Depends on what station you’re listing to. This song is on the regular rotation of 70’s on 7 on SiriusXM
I always thought that was Mac Davis. lol
I learned at an early age to ALWAYS pull out
Great tune but they were later called Hammilton, Joe Frank and Denison as one member left to become a pastor. The album was on Playboy Records, don’t know that happened. The best tune on the album is “winners and losers.”

For the 70’s have to stick with simple 8 tra/ck recorded rock acts not chewy chewy. Let’s see, how about...
and do note the clever Cow Bell (More Cow Bell) on the drum track (insert? who knows maybe had it’s own track of the 8):

What age was anyone here when this came out and danced at the country club to local garage bands?
Perfect recording. The talent in that era completely dwarfs today. To sing like that and sound effortless with zero auto tuning.
Lots of 70s songs had double entendres...
In my mind, I always confused these guys for some reason with Ray, Goodman and Brown, who sing an awesome love son called Special Lady.
Because of that confusion, I thought Hamilton, Joe Frank and Reynolds were black. It’s a great song.
Great brass section with those trombones in the intro. Makes you pay attention. The lead singer has a fine voice, a natural style, on the level of B.J.Thomas. Yes, it does sound like an Elvis type of song. I used to hear it everywhere, but never knew who did it.
Always thought the name sounded like a law firm.
Ray Goodman, and Brown themselves evolved from the super 60's and early 70's smooth R&B group, the Moments. They had a lot of big hits on the R&B charts including this one:
