A prostatectomy is a surgical procedure in which a urologist removes your prostate to treat prostate cancer or benign prostatic hyperplasia. The two main types include a simple prostatectomy and a radical prostatectomy. Risks include incontinence, erectile dysfunction and surgical risks. Most people recover after four to 10 weeks.

Oh my, DOD Sec., LLoyd Austin is embarrassed that he can't light his candle anymore, and he has to give full disclosure as a federal government official, yet he hid it from everybody, including his boss, but there should have been full disclosure.
I'm sorry about his condition, and pray for his recovery.

Politics aside, I hope he recovers ok. My Dad had that done….very painful.
He shouldn’t have been so secretive about it.

Generally speaking, any ectomy is a surgical removal of the referenced organ or body part.

My understanding is that he had the procedure, then went home. A week later he was back in the hospital. I had a Turp, a procedure referred to as a RotoRooter. I went home. A week later the bleeding had not stopped. I ended up spending three weeks flat on my back in the hospital. If he had to return to the hospital there were complications and complications can kill you.

“Healthcare providers most often recommend a radical prostatectomy to treat prostate cancer confined to the prostate in men and people assigned male at birth (AMAB).”
Yeah, a medical journal now writes this kind of drivel.

Everyone I know who has had that procedure performed on them can no longer get an erection or function sexually. They’re as limp as a wet noodle. I would hard pass on that.
