Wait? Whats wrong with releasing a bald eagle in church?!
Nothing if you’re in Auburn, Alabama..................
I love Pastor Keith. I subscribe to his YouTube channel.
Sadly, I’ve encountered examples of more than half of these parodied church types on my search for a congregation.
Me too.
The so-called ‘New Age’ churches.................
.
Birdie birdie in the sky
Why do you do that in my eye
I will not laugh I will not cry
I’m just glad that pigs don’t fly
Just slightly joking. I've heard of these sort of churches before, but I don't believe they exist. Yes, they preach out of the King James version, but people can use what they want. And I like that. It is difficult enough to memorize verses (which is an important practice), but to have someone recite different renditions of the same text, disrupts the data that was previously memorized.
So let people use the text they like, but I much prefer the preached/recited text to remain the same - and the King James has an almost poetic flow to it that is helpful when trying to memorize the passage.
I know a couple people who go to a KJV church in Concord NH.
Nice folks, but I like the ESV for readability and when I want to know the deeper meaning go to Bible Hub for the Greek.
That’s a red flag for me, i.e., calling a psstor by his first name. Too familiar and disrespectful. Really? Pastor Skippy?
I don’t know. It depends on the context and setting.
Those who know him intimately call him “Pastor Keith.” That’s fine with me.
Isn’t it “Pope Francis” after all?
This was way too mild. There are some groups out there that should not even be called “churches”, because they are so messed up. For example:
Over-ecumenized, “If people somewhere worshiped it in the past or today, *it is just as good* as Christianity”. This includes pagan religions.
Sex churches. Simply covers for prostitution rings.
Drug churches. With few exceptions, illegal drugs are not sacraments, and if they are, not for white or black people.
Whatever-the-leftist-fad-of-the-minute-churches. The purpose of a church is faith in God, not leftist politics. And this is a big one, since leftists have caused schisms in most churches in the US.
etc., ad nauseum
The KJV-only churches tend to have very shallow academic backgrounds and shallow “seminary” educations. Not saying that academics is everything, but they don’t even put any emphasis on learning and studying the original languages of the Scriptures.
I’ve been thinking for a while now that the Quakers are on to something when it comes to the manner in which they worship...
Agree. We only attend KJV churches. I don’t believe it’s a perfect translation, because it isn’t. But I think it’s the closest. It’s also very beautiful and poetic, as you say. And I use the KJV criterion as a tool to weed out the modernistic churches.
When we have devotions every night, I read from KJV when it’s my turn. Hubby reads from some brand X Bible. When he reads a verse that I’ve known well, and memorized, from childhood, it’s bland. It’s also watered down to make it more warm and fuzzy.
Every "gay" church ever.
"...the gay 'churches' are really bathhouses masquerading as houses of worship." -- Ronald G. Lee, former homosexual and critic of that lifestyle
Matthew 18:20 King James Version
For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
That revelation knocked me to the floor.
I don't think Quakers have a monopoly on that style.
