One thing I find very interesting is that from 2015 to 2018, sudden deaths were over 42K and then dipped to under 38K in 2019. Actually, the downward trend started in 2017 and ended in 2020.
My theory is that a lot “despair” issues tied to economic downturn that lead to sudden deaths dissipated once Trump became president. People saw a brighter future and didn’t drink as much, didn’t stress about losing their job, etc., you know, things that can be tough on the heart.
I wonder how many poor people who died suddenly in 2020 did so due to heart attacks due to the stress of being out of work due to shutdowns.
