Owner of LA bakery targeted by mob of 100 looters angered at rampant street takeovers: ‘Nobody gets punished for anything’

The owner of the California bakery ransacked last week by a mob of more than 100 looters is heartbroken for his family’s business and angered that nobody has been punished as he slammed rising crime in the state.

Ruben’s Bakery & Mexican Food in Compton was the target of a mass smash-and-grab when looters used a Kia to drive into the storefront during an illegal street takeover on Jan. 2.

Reuben Ramirez Jr. says his parents opened their store nearly 50 ago after immigrating to the country and was heartbroken to see their work become a victim of crime.

“At first, like anybody, we were angry then we were sad,” Ramirez Jr. told Fox News. “The worst was seeing my parents who built something for over 48 years, to almost lose it because of this violence that is going on right now.”

Until a few years ago, I had a store in Long Beach - just a few miles from Compton. One day a group of 'gang banger' types came in - with security officers discretely behind them. One of them was looking at a glass case filled with miniature buildings, - some of them well-known - St. Paul's Cathedral; The White House etc. I asked him if he recognized any. He replied "You got The Compton Courthouse in there? " How sad.....

Maybe your old store was near Jordan High School on Atlantic Blvd...Near 91 and 710 Freeways...The area around that school is not great...

I once reported to the Compton Courthouse for a jury duty...I think it was during last week of the year...I sat in the waiting room for some hours...Then the staff member told everyone to go home...I finished my jury service...

Wonder if Serena Williams has done anything to help her hometown? Good for her if she has.

Her half-sister, Yetunde Price, was killed in a drive-by shooting in Compton...

Serena did open a community center in Compton and named the place "Yetunde Price Resource Center"...
