Years ago, I heard fantasy author Robert Jordan call tell one of his fans that she was mentally ill when she gushed about how well he wrote “Pre-History” and asked if he could teach her to Channel because she wanted to be an “Aes Sedai”

There were some true believers in the Wheel of Time fan base. I was active on a couple of the boards back around 2000, and there were plenty of teenage girls there who were sure they could at least learn to channel well enough to get back at their parents. Today, they just vote Democrat. :)

Vietnam vet Jordan probably didn't have much patience with evaders of reality.
