I had that issue, the “Poop-Side-Down Adventure”, so awesome with Serge Leone’s little cartoon creations popping up wherever. My foster father forbade me buying Mad Magazines because they made me “impudent and disrespectful of authority”. I say it was good training.

Years ago, when someone from Mad passed away, they ran an obituary in National Review. The obit writer basically said everyone on the staff at NR would admit, “under mild torture,” that Mad influenced their politics.
Mad was probably more subversive in many ways, but when they nailed it, they nailed it bigly. THIS ending to their Grease parody was thought-provoking even for us guys who were…well…guys:
