Free Republic is partly distinguished as being more than a political site. The Freeper Canteen has posts of pop music and TV trivia quizzes, regular archives of newspaper reporting from the War of 1860 (hardly "news"), theology discussion among Catholics, Jews, Protestants, Evangelicals, Orthodox, etc.), NFL picks, and questions about car purchases, health, and computer operating systems addressed to other freeprs. It is a site for conservatives who want to post to other conservatives. It is NOT WND or Breitbart (not that there is anything wrong with those).

No site takes up less bandwidth, not even Drudge. If an article doesn't interest you, skip it.

An astonishing long time ago, one of my first jobs was working at a brand-new McDonalds in my hometown. One of the managers (there were four, three of which were absolute insane, boorish monsters) decided one early afternoon it would be fun to grab my shoulders from behind and push me down toward a boiling vat of French fry grease. He was laughing the whole time.

“You could have killed me!” I yelled at him.

Long story short, I quit, that idiot reckless a** boasted about starting his own restaurant (which never got off the ground). Had the building rented, everything set up, sign lit up, employees hired (I guess???).

Nada.
