George was trying to mix western and eastern cultures together, he left out islam, good for him.

Listen to "My Sweet Lord", no ali akbar, in that song.

I was going to post his New Years song, "Ding Dong".

Happy New Year.

He was an ordinary man thrust into massive celebrity. I’m inclined to give him a pass, though God will judge.

From the article:

"Harrison’s idea that people are born innocent and are gradually made impure by society sounds a lot like the distinctly Christian concept of sin to me. But, for Harrison, it was not the devil drawing people into temptation, but mass culture – a culture he was an essential part of. It is these contradictions..."

#####################

No contradictions at all. "Society" and "mass culture" equal the world. Taken in a Biblical context, that means Satan.

If Harrison, or anyone else, think society or mass culture or the world are somehow innocent, they are sadly mistaken and misinformed.

(Note: I love Harrison's music and efforts post-Beatles, and respect everything he stood for.)

He withdrew into his so called spirituality while married to Pattie Boyd, leaving her basically alone in the marriage but at the same time had affairs.

That is his spirituality.

Born innocent is Christian? That sounds more like Jean Jaques Rousseau. We’re born with Original Sin.

Whoa, FULL STOP

That is not a Christian concept, it is a worldly concept. But it sounds good to itchy ears.

Per RC Sproul:

“sinning doesn’t make us sinners, we sin BECAUSE we are sinners”

For Harrison, it was the hypocrisy of institutionalised religion,

I can’t argue with that, and also people.

The truth is God destroyed the religion institution. He destroyed the temple, removed the ritual sacrifices, tore the curtain from top to bottom, removed the priests.

We rebuilt it. Why?

The essence of the New Covenant is a personal relationship with God. We are the temple, we are the priests, we are the prophets.

Are you born again? Does God’s Word have purpose in your life? Do you see evidence of the Holy Spirit?

One revealing question is the answer to: Did God choose you or did you choose God.

From the beginning in The Garden of Eden, God wanted a personal relationship with his creation. Why? I don’t know.

Harrison’s idea that people are born innocent and are gradually made impure by society sounds a lot like the distinctly Christian concept of sin to me.

Well, he's wrong in that one because that is NOT a Christian concept.

Man is not inherently pure and innocent until corrupted. Man is corrupted by sin and sins because he is, by nature, a sinner.

I've never met ANYONE who had to teach a toddler to be bad.

Well, he had known “the answer” for quite a few years now.

Anyway…I liked his music and he seemed like a gentle guy.

Seemed like a kind man, with a lot of sensitivity in his music. He was born into 1943 England and didn’t have an indoor toilet till age 4. I’ve never heard stories about him being deliberately cruel. Some here point out an affair as evidence if his evil…. Whatever. I’m sure they were virgins at marriage and had one woman in life.
And he wrote taxman and here comes the sun and while my guitar gently weeps.
And he had fun with that traveling wilburys project.

I can find more worthy targets to dislike

Good luck in arguing that point using Psalm 51....

Psalm 51:5
Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

Listen to "My Sweet Lord"...

I listen to it all the time. The words are moving - except for the hare Krishna part.

Harrison turned out to be very creative and really began to shine after the Beatles busted up.

The words he wrote in My Sweet Lord would make you believe that he was in the one-tenth of one percent of those musicians who actually seem to have a spiritual side.

Was he a sinner? Sure he was. Like all of us -- but we all (believers) try and recognize that all we have comes from a God in heaven, and we will be judged for our short life here when we get there.

Don't believe me. Ask anyone who has had a near-death experience (NDE).

The child’s soul is pure, but like a seed, it has not developed.

Often I will know when women are pregnant before they do as the pure soul that hss just arrived from Heaven radiates Love in all directions like a fire hose.

Thus in order to know and experience God, your soul must be as a child.

In the process of a soul growing it must encounter difficult experiences that create resistance to growth in order for the soul to gain strength. Like a tomato seedling that encounters no resistance and grows tall and spindly, but wilts and dies when it meets resistance.

Love is the key as obstacles to Love hinder soul growth.

Had my doubts about the group ever since John said they were more popular than Jesus.

The question arises, Where does instinct come from?

In John 9, the Pharisees ask concerning the man who was blind from birth, “Who sinned, this man or his father?”

If he was blind from birth, when or how did he sin?

I know Jesus’s answer, but it’s a real good question.

Why are all souls not equal?

George was a great musician

I don’t look to him for religious direction. Why would I?

His music is in no way brainwashy trying to get me to convert.

He was brought up Catholic and rejected it. Join the club Same as just about everyone I grew up with in New York suburbia. I don’t ask them either

Anyone who knew George had great things to say about him. He and his wife, Olivia, had parties at his house where he would hand everyone a ukelele and have everyone play

He was lovely.

George was an excellent musician and song writer. I don’t look to rock stars for advice on spiritual or philosophical matters.
