I guess Meatball will file another lawsuit against Georgia for beating the crap out his losers so badly
Throw off the last vestiges that college football (and basketball) has anything to do with getting an education. Have the NFL (NBA!) fund it as a complete minor league system for them. To make traditionalists happy, these minor league teams can lease the names of the universities, etc. The universities get a cash flow and that’s what it’s all about anyway! Some naive people still think education is involved somewhere somehow. Fans can find comfort in rooting for the names of their favorite Big Sports U.
That game became unwatchable. I turned it off and watched Wyoming they were much better
I think the HBCU have a television contract with The Grio network. I remember channel surfing and saw the game labelled as HBCU.

I don’t know why BET doesn’t pick them up considering the audience and BET is on a lot more cable and satellite systems.
It would make more sense. I agree.
Heck, Oprah Winfrey’s network OWN should be logical place for them to be.
Therre ain't much to say after a 63 - 3 drubbing, except that one team was totally outclassed
I don’t blame the players. An undefeated team cheated out a playoff seat? Every game they play is a chance at a career ending injury. It is one thing to take that risk for a National Championship. It is quite another to take it for a meaningless bowl game. To reward the system that just screwed you over would be a bridge too far for me as well.
When your coach makes a 7 or 8 figure salary, you are no longer an amateur sport.
I can’t even enjoy FSU getting blown out, because it was the hands of Georgia.
Gator fans can’t win for losing.
It is not the responsibility of a college football player to maintain tradition and culture or to entertain you, their only responsibility is to maintain their own health and create their best opportunity to be drafted by the NFL.
Your “comparable” examples are not comparable since all your examples occurred before the four team college playoffs started after the 2014 season. Georgia is unquestionably one of the best four teams in the country this year. And Texas is not.
Yes they occurred before but they are absolutely comparable. Win the SEC Championship game or it can cost you everything. That exact scenario has played out 3 times before.
The same thing happened to Ohio State in their big showdown with Michigan late in the year. That was the only game they lost. The same thing would have happened to Washington had they lost the PAC 12 championship game. That would have been their only loss but Oregon who they beat in the regular season, would have gotten into the playoff ahead of them.
You most likely cannot afford a late season loss.
College football has worked as a business in large part because alumni/fans cling to the myth that the players “represent” their school, play their guts out for it, and are loyal to the end.
We all know that hasn’t been the way of things for a long time. A game like this one bursts the bubble. I guess there is a market for yet more mercenary athleticism, but without an emotional connection, will fans drift away?
I’m surprised that no one brought up the story that has been going around the last couple of days that Arch Manning, the backup quarterback for Texas, supposedly makes more in NIL money than Brock Purdy, the starting quarterback for the 49’ers. Purdy makes $870k a year on his rookie contract and is a contender for the NFC MVP. To me that kind of illustrates how the whole thing is coming off the rails.
I love college football and have since I was a kid in the 70’s. I and my other football junkie buddies think the stuff that is happening now is repulsive. That being said my hypocritical ass is planning to contribute some $$ to the Husker NIL collective to help pay for our new 5 star quarterback. I don’t want to make the problem worse than it already is but that is how things are now. At least it’s above board now unlike the way it used to be back in the day. An acquaintance of mine back at dear old Nebraska U in the 80’s was a well known starter. He just happened to drive a brand new Cadillac that was provided by a local dealership. Also was friends with a couple other guys who had basically no show summer jobs that paid $12 bucks an hour 40 hours a week for three months. They showed up a few hours a week to make it look like they were earning their pay but that was it. Was told that was the normal deal with most big time programs by those guys who knew kids that has scholarships at other schools.

If your college football team is supported by tax dollars, then you need to be fan of a different team.
With attitudes like yours encouraging this behavior, it's no wonder so many of these young adults are so self-centered.
The Accounting major at Florida State should take steps to land the most lucrative job, and the football player at Florida State should take steps to land the most lucrative NFL contract.
Why would you deny a college football player the opportunity to do what is best for him and his family?
