Would you pay $650 for a table at Applebee’s in Times Square to watch the ball drop?
Apparently many New Year’s Eve revelers are willing to fork over just that and even more — including $12,500 for a luxury couples package at the Marriott Marquis — to ring in 2024, according to events entrepreneur Joshua Perla.
Perla, founder of events sites BallDrop.com and NewYears.com, said business has been brisk for the 30 different Times Square packages.
“We are seeing an uptick in the price consumers are spending on New Year’s Eve tickets that include a live view of the ball drop in Times Square,” Perla told Side Dish.

In over 40 years of experience with Manhattan, I have learned you can dine very well, with excellent ambiance, excellent service and excellent food without going to the most well known or most expensive places.
In fact, with what experiences I have had at some very expensive well known places, they have such mistaken popularity, at a high rate, that they do not have to depend on maintaining excellence, and they don’t. The “popularity” is going to get them all the customers they need.
If there was ever a terrorist target, Times Square on New Years Eve has to be high on the list.
Yet I wouldn’t accept that much $ to be there for free
I don’t even stay up to watch it on TV.
You can watch drunks on YouTube for free

Will never understand the appeal of being part of a mob.
Instead of celebrating 2024’s arrival with $650/seat at Applebee’s with my wife, I bought a few seats worth of Daniel Defense. I hope she didn’t want to eat out... I’m sure she will understand.
Chicoms and Muslim Emirs have bought all the seats.
“When I was a teenager my buddies and I would ride the LIRR into Penn Station and work our way up to Times Square with a bottle of peach schnapps and a few bucks.”
I’d be going the other way. I remember the kids getting off the train at Penn Station. You could hear the bottles rattling in their shopping bags.
Funny thing...it is 2024 in New Zealand 18 hrs before New York. Wonder if one can book a flight for two and some hotel accomodations in NZ for less than 12,500 bucks.
Could probably take less time than getting into NYC and out during the NYC event.
There certainly isn’t a big recession if people can pay for Times Square event.
Bonus - the socialist bartender will be mixing drinks.
Ditto.
It’s lost its appeal to me.
What other service providers are out there? Need to switch.

BREAKING: @TMobile has quietly updated their TOS to include fines for content they don’t agree with.
Beginning on January 1, 2024, they will be fining users who commit perceived violations on their bandwidth.
Who knew in America that the phone providers would now be policing the content of your text messages to fine you.
S.H.A.F.T. is an acronym that stands for Sex, Hate, Alcohol, Firearms, and Tobacco. It outlines the categories of text messages specifically regulated due to moral and legal issues and is monitored and enforced by the Cellular Telephone Industries Association (CTIA) and the mobile carriers.
Who gets to determine what is and isn’t “hateful”?
Will political text messages be censored now as well going into 2024?
Nice TOS date change! Just in time for the GOP primary and 2024 presidential election!
Dr. Johnny Fever was right about The Phone Cops.
I used to take 4H kids on tours through large telephone companies, radio stations, and newspaper companies. Everything has been recorded since the 70s or earlier.
Glad we aren’t T-mobile customers.
Although, they’re likely the camel’s nose, in the tent.
How long before the other carriers follow suit?
We are. Comcast is local.
Who do you use?
In a bad economy, it is the little guy that suffers the most. Inflation and higher costs of living hit hard. There are still tons of people out there with a whole lotta money. And credit cards.
