It’s important to remember that Jesus lived in the Middle East, in the region roughly corresponding to modern-day Israel and Palestine. People in this region have diverse skin tones, ranging from light to olive to dark.
Since we don’t know how Jesus looks like, all we can do is speculate.
Supposedly the Men of Gallilee were a bit darker than average, so that is what I imagine that Christ looked loke.
Likely Olive skinned.
You are correct. In the end, does it really matter what color his skin was? It’s not the skin tone....it’s the message.
He likely looked like all the other ME Jews of the time. Perhaps God threw the region a curved one. This issue is discussed every year as if the fact that he wasn’t European white is a major discovery/revelation. Gotta live it. :-)
The bible says that there was nothing about his looks that would set him apart as odd or particularly handsome. The best guess is that he was a very average looking Jew, which is why he was able to seemingly disappear in a crowd, and why that Judas had to his him on the cheek as proof to the Romans who he was.
Apparently it does matter to some.. I wonder IF Christ included the data on his DNA when He declared Mark 13:23. Take heed, behold I have foretold you all things.
Now for a bit of His history the name Adam in the Hebrew means to show blood in the face (rosy cheeks)…. Not exactly the first traits used to describe ‘Middle Eastern ‘ peoples.. wonder what the phrase ‘Key of David’ means…. Sleep away not time for all to see.
