We have been there with our daughter and grandkids, had a very good time, and found a few minuscule diamonds.
And the biscuits and gravy in town were excellent.

Good thing he wasn’t there with kids. Somebody would say the stone was a blood diamond, mined with child labor.

The owners probably drop a big one in every so many years to keep the excitement going.

It’s a State Park. The citizens of Arkansas own it.

Sounds like a fun time.
Sorry, though, that diamond is probably an S12, with plenty of inclusions. Worth about $5K max after the cut, versus $50K.
A neat find nonetheless. It won’t make a good ring, but can be converted into a necklace or bracelet. A platinum or white gold setting will mask the flaws.

Ten bucks says that the state and/or the Feds will try to claim it under some obscure law from 95 years ago.
To: DUMBGRUNT
Why would he go on national news media with this?
Thats crazy. It’s a security and privacy issue

Exactly...I don’t understand this. I hope the state now claims it. Serve him right.

Nope, he gets to keep the diamond. Arkansas state park rules allow it at this state park.
Evans paid the fees and followed the rules.

Yea, well 5 carats uncut and ungraded might be worth a few thousand if its a really workable stone or a few hundred depending on its flaws. Nothing to see here.

Do you drive a nice car/truck?
Have a nice house?
Your car is probably worth more than this rock and is right out front and can be parted out for cash.
A nice house, some nice trees and bushes?
My brother’s house was cleaned out when everyone was at his funeral.

“ My brother’s house was cleaned out when everyone was at his funeral.”
Is it the New Yorker in me? The combat vet? Spouse of a combat vet?
No. New Yorker.
We ALWAYS have someone man the house on funeral and wedding days
Growing up always one of the neighbor ladies - a non Catholic- would skip the funeral that was plastered all over the NYT and or Newsday- and stay at the house. Thats a standard
It’s maybe why this guy plastering his mug all over Fox and abc news stands out as unwise as can be
Thieves and regular schmoes don’t calculate what is worth what. They see drug cash and jump in
Geeze.

The purpose of the park is for the public to get to look for diamonds.

Non-natural diamonds are flawless and better quality.
