Day 663 of the russian full-scale military aggression against Ukraine continues.
The adversary continues to ignore the laws and customs of war, uses terror tactics, strikes and shells both military and civilian objects.
During the day of December 18, there were 92x combat engagements. The enemy launched 1x missile and 6x air strikes, 33x MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, the russian terrorist attacks have killed and wounded civilians. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed or damaged.
The operational situation in the east and the south of Ukraine remains difficult.
VOLYN and POLISSYA AXIS no significant changes. No signs of formation of an offensive group. Certain units of the armed forces of belarus continue their missions in the areas bordering Ukraine.
SIVERSHCHYNA and SLOBOZHANSHCHYNA AXIS: the adversary maintains its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy continues its sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shelling Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 35x settlements, including Volfyne, Yunakivka, Sadky, Myropilske (Sumy oblast), Bolohivka, Stroivka, Kamyanka, and Topoli (Kharkiv oblast).
KUPYANSK AXIS: the Ukrainian defenders repelled 4x enemy attacks near Synkivka and east of Petropavlivka (Kharkiv oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 10x settlements, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Kovalivka, Ivanivka, and Berestove (Kharkiv oblast).
LYMAN AXIS: the adversary made unsuccessful attempts to break through the defense of Ukrainian troops. The Ukrainian defense forces repelled 10x enemy attacks in the vicinities of Makiivka (Luhansk oblast) and east of Terny, Spirne (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10x settlements, including Nevske, Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Torske, Serebryanka, Verkhnokamyanske, and Rozdolivka (Donetsk oblast).
BAKHMUT AXIS: the Ukrainian troops repelled 17x attacks of the adversary near Bohdanivka, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka (Donetsk oblast). Around 10x settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Bohdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, and Kurdyumivka (Donetsk oblast).
AVDIIVKA AXIS: the Ukrainian defenders repelled 9x enemy attacks in the vicinities of Avdiivka and 13x more attacks near Sjeverne, south of Tonenke, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at around 15x settlements, including Sukha Balka, Novobakhmutivka, Ocheretyne, Avdiivka, Berdychi, and Nevelske (Donetsk oblast).
MARYINKA AXIS: the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy near Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast). With the air support, the adversary launched 12x unsuccessful attacks. Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Maryinka, Pobjeda, and Novomykhailivka were under artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers.
SHAKHTARSKE AXIS: the enemy did not conduct any offensive (assault) operations. Around 10x settlements, including Bohoyavlenka, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, Blahodatne, and Urozhaine (Donetsk oblast), came under artillery and mortar fire.
ZAPORIZHZHIA AXIS: the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 13x adversary attacks west of Novopokrovka and Robotyne (Zaporizhzhia oblast). Around 25x settlements, including Novodanylivka, Orikhiv, Novoandriivka, Mali Shcherbaky, Pyatykhatky, and Plavni (Zaporizhzhia oblast), came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.
KHERSON AXIS: the adversary artillery shelled Chornobaivka (Kherson oblast) and civilian targets of the city of Kherson.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River and fire for effect at the adversary.
Also, the Ukrainian air defense forces and means destroyed 1x Kh-59 guided missile.

The latest figures from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Saturday show that Russia had lost 930 soldiers and dozens of tanks over the previous day.
There were three days this week in which Ukraine claimed more than 1,000 Russian troop losses. They were on Friday (1,090), Thursday (1,300), and Monday (1,030). Meanwhile, on Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, there were 700, 800, and 850 Russian losses, respectively, taking Kyiv’s total for the week to 6,700 and 88 Tanks. Newsweek has yet to be able to verify these figures independently.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, Ukrainian defenders have eliminated about 347,160 Russian invaders.

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine is calling on citizens to save electricity during peak hours, which will help maintain the stable operation of the power system.
This was emphasized by Minister of Energy German Galushchenko during the broadcast of the national telethon.
The head of the Energy Ministry noted that Ukraine’s air defense was working very successfully, which made it possible to protect energy infrastructure facilities, among others.
“The energy system is stable. But unfortunately, the shelling continues and we are losing some power generation, especially in the areas close to the frontline where the fighting is taking place. There is constant shelling of energy facilities there,” he said.
German Galushchenko stressed that there was a significant increase in electricity consumption during the winter.
“We are communicating with our citizens and asking them to use electricity sparingly and, if possible, to shift the use of household appliances to off-peak hours. This will certainly help the system to function,” he said.
The Minister stressed that blackouts would only be possible in the event of a significant impact of hostile attacks on the power system or due to bad weather.
In the event of a deficit in the power system, the needs are covered by electricity imports from European countries, which can currently reach 1.7 GW.
“Providing such assistance is absolutely normal for the united energy system of Europe, of which Ukraine is a part,” said German Galushchenko

Since the beginning of the year, thanks to the work of demining units of government agencies and non-governmental operators, Ukrainian farmers received back into use more than 200,000 hectares of agricultural land scheduled for priority survey and demining. This was announced by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko, citing data from regional military administrations.
“Our deminers – the units of the State Emergency Service, the State Special Transport Service, and non-governmental mine action operators – are showing very good results. Even now, in winter, when the weather is not conducive to work in the fields, to put it mildly, 3,000 to 5,000 hectares of agricultural land are surveyed every week. As of today, more than 200,000 hectares of the 470,000 hectares of land that we have planned to survey, clear and demine as a matter of priority, have already been returned to farmers,” said Yuliia Svyrydenko.
The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy stressed that the Government and international partners were working hard to strengthen the capacity of operators and to strategically plan the work of all stakeholders in the field of mine action for the next 10 years. According to her, the ultimate goal is to return to safe use up to 80% of the country’s territories currently considered potentially contaminated.
According to regional military administrations, as of 15 December, 268,600 hectares of agricultural land have been surveyed since the beginning of the year, out of about 470,000 hectares planned for priority survey and demining. Of these, about 205,000 hectares have been returned to use. Over 5,000 hectares were surveyed last week. Most of them – 3,800 hectares – were surveyed in Kherson region.
