”The OODA Loop — Observe,Orient,Decide, Act.
"The OODA Loop is an oft-cited, but typically misunderstood idea.
If you’ve heard of it, it was most likely presented in a fairly superficial way – as a 4-step decision-making process where the individual or group
who makes it through all the stages the quickest, wins.
That’s one element of the OODA Loop, but there’s much more to it than that."
Tilted Irish Kilt: “ Situational Awareness (learning/ developing the skill )
and overcoming "Normalcy Bias" ( with additional thread hotlinks)
The OODA Loop can be used in business, personal protection, actually in all realms of life
providing you overcome 'Normalcy Bias'.
It is a learned skill that requires ongoing and continual practice which progressively builds upon itself.

1) Where am I? If I have to tell someone to get to me, how will I communicate where I am actually located?
2) Where are the exits? If I have to leave, what options are available?
3) Where are the threats? Can be person, animal, or dangerous environment (wet floor, light about to fail, vehicle, etc.)
4) Where are the helps? First aid kit, fire extinguisher, alarm, phone, baseball bat, etc.
5) What is the plan?
I’d much rather have wisdom and discernment from God. All else is failible.
My husband practically preached OODA.
I have much to learn about situational awareness, but I think my sharpness grows when I am in a crowded environment. It’s probably why I prefer being in quiet natural places, but I should sharpen my senses there, too.
Chuck Norris has a much simpler plan. Whenever his environment changes, he asks himself, “Does anyone’s ass need kicking?”
Thanks for posting. (OODA...Boy Scouts all grown up.)
Something is wrong in our nation.
I practiced situational awareness. It was useless.
The main awareness you need to learn is surveillance-awareness. Real attacks are planned, everything is controlled, surveillance is the real tool of the only threat you face. The only thing which will protect you is surveillance-awareness.

I use: plan, assess, test, revise, retest, execute.
I am planning to get gas for my car. 10pm on Friday night? No. 7:30 Sat morning? Yes.
Most all of the recommendations above, assume the plan is fixed.
In my World 90% of safety is achieved by planning, not by identifying risks after a defective plan lands me somewhere stupid.
If people go down to the end of the town well what can anyone do?
