A computer science student from University of St Petersburg posted a question to Putin via a DeepFake double of Putin on the big screen in which the press conference was held.
Putin saw it and his reply to the question “Do you use body doubles to minimize the chances of assassination?” was that he has already determined there should be only one of him, and that is he, himself.
Folks may not be aware, this Q&A was held in a conference room filled with journalists. It was not in some office with a telephone and no one but staff present. If there was a body double sitting there answering all the questions posed over the 4 hour duration, it would be a body double completely briefed on all matters of policy and reciting them to each question.
Odds of a body double able to withstand the scrutiny of all the journalists present would seem pretty low, not to mention the issue of knowing policy and the risk the campaign would be taking of having a body double out there potentially manufacturing new policy on the spot.
Occam’s razor says . . . nah, the simplest solution is simply that Putin sat in the room and answered the questions. Sitting for 4 hours is not too much to ask of a 70 yr old. Not that big a deal.

Day 660 of the russian full-scale military aggression against Ukraine continues.
The enemy continues to ignore the laws and customs of war, uses terror tactics, launches strikes, and shells both military and civilian targets.
During the day of December 15, there were 82 combat engagements.
The enemy launched a total of 2 missile strikes, 11 air strikes and 17 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, the russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties and injuries. Private residential buildings as well as other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged. Today, Ukrainian air defense forces shot down 1 Kh-59 guided missile.
The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains difficult.
VOLYN and POLISSYA AXIS: no significant changes. No signs of formation of an offensive group. Certain units of the armed forces of belarus continue their missions in the areas bordering Ukraine.
SIVERSHCHYNA and SLOBOZHANSHCHYNA AXIS: the adversary maintains its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy continues its sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shelling Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. Around 20 settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Krasnyi Khutir, Hremyach (Chernihiv oblast), Kruzhok, Volfyne, Pokrovka (Sumy oblast), Chervona Zorya, Kozacha Lopan, Lukyantsi, Zelene (Kharkiv oblast).
KUPYANSK AXIS: Ukrainian defenders repelled 8 enemy attacks in the vicinity of Synkivka (Kharkiv oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 10 settlements, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Kupyansk, Ivanivka, Berestove (Kharkiv oblast).
LYMAN AXIS: Ukrainian defense forces repelled 5 attacks east of Terny, Yampolivka (Donetsk oblast) and Makiyivka (Luhansk oblast). The occupiers fired artillery and mortars at around 10 settlements, including Nevske, Bilohorivka, Serebryanske forestry (Luhansk oblast), Torske, Serebryanka, Verkhniokamyanske (Donetsk oblast).
BAKHMUT AXIS: Ukrainian defenders repelled 15 attacks near Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiyivka and Andriyivka (Donetsk oblast). Around 10 settlements, including Vasyukivka, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiyivka, Andriyivka, New York (Donetsk oblast), came under artillery and mortar fire.
AVDIYIVKA AXIS: the enemy made unsuccessful attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. Ukrainian defenders repelled 17 attacks in the area east of Novobakhmutivka, Avdiyivka, and 12 attacks east of Stepove, south of Sjeverne and Pervomaiske (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Sukha Balka, Keramik, Stepove, Avdiyivka, Pervomaiske, Nevelske (Donetsk oblast).
MARYINKA AXIS: Ukrainian defense forces continue to hold back the enemy in the vicinities of Krasnohorivka, Maryinka and Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast), The enemy, with air support, launched 12 failed attacks on positions of Ukrainian defenders in the area. The settlements of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiyivka, Maryinka, Pobjeda, Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast) were under artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers.
SHAKHTARSKE AXIS: Ukrainian defenders repelled 2 attacks in the vicinity of Staromaiorske (Donetsk oblast). Around 10 settlements, including Vodyane, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, Urozhaine (Donetsk oblast), came under artillery and mortar fire.
ZAPORIZHZHIA AXIS: Ukrainian defense forces repelled 7 enemy attacks west of Novopokrovka and south of Robotyne (Zaporizhzhia oblast). More than 20 settlements, including Novodanylivka, Orikhiv, Novoandriyivka, Mali Shcherbaky, Pyatykhatky, Plavni (Zaporizhzhia oblast) came under artillery and mortar fire.
KHERSON AXIS: the enemy fired artillery at the settlements of Krynky, Ivanivka, Tyahynka, Antonivka (Kherson oblast) and the city of Kherson.
Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold their ground on the left bank of the Dnipro River (Kherson oblast) and inflict fire on the enemy.
During the day of December 15, Ukrainian Air Force launched 7 strikes on concentrations of troops, weapons and military equipment of the russian invaders.
Ukrainian missile troops hit 4 concentrations of troops, weapons and military equipment, and 2 ammunition depots of the occupiers.

The Netherlands to further provide assistance to Ukraine’s energy sector

The Netherlands will continue to support the energy sector of Ukraine and is interested in deepening cooperation in sustainable energy and decentralisation of generation. This was discussed at a meeting between Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Yaroslav Demchenkov and a delegation of the Netherlands headed by Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Geoffrey van Leeuwen. The meeting took place at one of the energy facilities that was damaged during the russian attacks.
Geoffrey van Leeuwen expressed his admiration for the work and resilience of Ukrainian energy workers and congratulated Ukraine on the European Council’s decision to start negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU, stressing the prospects for full integration of the Ukrainian and European energy markets.
“Ukraine has a high potential for the development of the energy sector. We are not waiting for the end of the war and are already working on projects that will strengthen the resilience and flexibility of our energy system. Given the successful policy of the Netherlands to abandon fossil fuels and the significant increase in renewable energy capacity, we offer to join projects in Ukraine in solar and wind generation. At the same time, Ukrainian specialists who have gained extraordinary experience in the face of military challenges can share their knowledge with the Dutch side,” said Yaroslav Demchenkov.
On behalf of Energy Minister German Galushchenko, the Deputy Minister thanked the Netherlands for its assistance to Ukraine. the Ukrainian energy sector, in particular, in the restoration and repair of energy infrastructure. The Netherlands has allocated about EUR 650 million to support Ukraine’s urgent needs (including more than EUR 120 million for the energy sector) and sent 84 humanitarian aid consignments totalling more than 1,000 units of energy equipment.
The Deputy Minister also briefed the guest on the state of natural gas production in Ukraine and outlined the prospects for attracting Dutch traders to store natural gas in Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities. In addition, he addressed the Dutch side with a proposal to involve Ukraine in a programme for retraining oil and gas and coal industry workers to work in the renewable energy sector.
