During WWII, as a kid I lived in Fairlington, VA. In 1945 my brother soloed and got his private license on his 16th birthday at Hybla Valley airport. A couple of years later, we were hitchhiking out to the airport to go flying and were picked up by Arthur Godfrey who gave us a ride up to West Virginia and back (and let my brother fly) in his Bonanza (or maybe it was a Navion, it was a long while ago).
