Despite the common notion that cholesterol medication reduces heart disease, Marik called it the “great cholesterol myth.”***
There is a group of doctors who were likely trained to believe that there is a (Rx) medicine to cure any disease or prevent it - and if there is not, there soon will be.
My son was trained to be a cardiac RN. He tells me that there one were many cardiologists who believed that βeta blocker meds were so miraculous that they lobbied politicians to make it mandatory for everyone in the United States to take βeta blockers for their whole lives.
I twice ran into one of those doctors - although I didn't know that they were 'one of those doctors' until I came to the realization that something was trying to kill me. The first time I just thought that my time had come and started giving my things away, preparing to pass on.
An accidental coincidence alerted me to the source of my problem and I changed doctors. A year later that doctor said that he wanted to try me on a 'new' medication. I actually asked him if it was a βeta blocker and reminded him that previously one of those meds had nearly killed me. 'Oh no!' he assured me, 'this is something new.'
I trusted him and accepted the med that he prescribed. I happened to be driving a bus with the Navy band down the Florida Turnpike to Vero Beach one evening; I discovered that I was struggling to keep the vehicle on the road. I was so exhausted that I decreased speed and would steer with one arm for a minute or so and then reverse arms and so on until, by God's Good Grace, I dropped the band off and went over to the mall and looked up the drug in a consumer guide to prescription drugs.
Needless to say: it was a βeta blocker. That Dr lied to me! ...and that lie could have killed me and everyone on that bus! Doctors such as that border on insanity - in the name of good intentions. Today doctors often ask me if I have medical training as I discuss certain cases and procedures with such practical knowledge. I tell them 'No' - EXCEPT in my own case! 🤔👌😏
What a horror story! Glad you managed to keep the bus on the road. I can’t even imagine what a horrible drug.
Just wow, Bob!
Thank you for sharing that.
Could you sue the beta blocker doc for lying?
