US ANNOUNCES MULTINATIONAL OPERATION TO PROTECT TRADE IN THE RED SEA
US Secretary of Defense:
“We announce a multinational operation to protect trade in the Red Sea in the wake of the [Yemeni] Houthi attacks.”
Countries Participating: Britain, Bahrain, Canada, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Seychelles, and Spain.
“The recent escalation in [Yemeni] Houthi attacks in the Red Sea threatens the free flow of trade, violates international law, and requires collective action.
The new force aims to ensure freedom of navigation and enhance regional security.”
