Chicago mayor launches lawsuits against companies transporting 'rogue buses' of migrants to city ('safety measures')

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has begun filing dozens of lawsuits against "rogue" bus companies transporting migrants from the southern border.

In an effort to show the seriousness of the migrant crisis, some Republican governors have sent buses of migrants to Democrat-controlled states and sanctuary cities. These Republicans argue the action is necessary to show the rest of the country what border states are dealing with due to the surge of migrants.

The Chicago Tribune (The Tribune) went into detail about how Johnson’s administration has begun filing lawsuits against those behind the transportation of migrants.

"The care of more than 24,400 migrants who have arrived in Chicago since August 2022 has taken on heightened urgency as winter sets in, and tested the limits of how welcoming the city can be," The Tribune reported. "The city has filed 55 lawsuits since it implemented new rules about when and where buses can arrive in mid-November, the Law Department said. The lawsuits address 77 total buses accused of violating the rules, and public records show at least some cases are seeking fines against the bus companies."

Mayor’s office spokesman Cassio Mendoza, in a statement to The Tribune, slammed "rogue, uncoordinated" buses, claiming they are endangering the lives of migrants, and called for bus companies to be held accountable.

He declared that Chicago, "continues to welcome asylum-seekers but the city cannot safely and efficiently shelter migrants when bus companies, contracted by the State of Texas, flagrantly violate all safety measures that the city has put in place."

The city is implementing new rules for buses on when and where they can drop off migrants. The new rules reportedly include a cap of two buses per hour and limited drop-off times to only Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Buses will also need approval from the city in order to drop off passengers, according to reports.

Bus passports? Illinois is a sanctuary state. Drop the illegal aliens off at the border and show them where Chicago is located. Diversity is our strungth.

Why is Chicago complaining?

24,400 criminal aliens over 16 months equals 1,525 criminal aliens per month.

Suck it up Buttercup. Those are Piker numbers.

Then send them to the white woke liberal bastions of River Forest, Oak Park, Highland Park and Evanston. These are the places which have “hate has no home” and “migrants welcome” signs on their property.

The residents of these enlightened burbs vote 80% progressive: They actually believe they are your enlightened betters and actually have proclaimed their cities as “sanctuary cities” as well.

If the birkenstocks fit Karen and Chad, slip them on by all means

These progressive woke suburbs should get their “fair share” too so they can “live their values”.

Please Gov. Abbott, send ‘em. .....Rollin Rollin Rollin keep those buses rollin Rawhide....

Sounds like racial discrimination to me. Obviously brown people are not welcome.

Both ways! I want it both ways! Welcome and don't come! Sanctuary and stay away! Both ways! Virtue signaling should NOT have to live up the signaling. Stop it! Rogue! Don't come! But welcome..... /s

odd, seems to me that Obama and Sleepy Joe drop them off at midnight in red States. Perhaps the Red States should set up ordinances as well.... NO DUMPING Grounds seems appropriate.

They only complain about busses sent by Republican Governors, not the many more busses sent by the state-sponsored allies of Democrat President Biden.

I suspect the Biden busses come with a bag of money to squelch the complainers.

It sounds like Mr. Mayor is a racist biatch. He doesn’t like the little, light brown people who talk funny.

The illegals pick their destination.

If we could carry this to the extreme, it could be argued that SloJoe is kidnapping them by not letting them travel to the destination of their choice. Also, any illegal riding on a city bus or train would bring the CTA under the same legal umbrella that the mayor is pushing.

For Pete’s sake, 24,000 is nothing. One border checkpoint is seeing 12,000 per day.

Hey Texas

How about sending a bunch of those buses to Mitch McConnell’s home in Kentucky. Mitch really needs some of these so called migrants.
