A first-time author has been dropped by her U.S. publisher and her agent after readers and fellow authors accused her of posting fake negative reviews to a popular book recommendation website.
Many within the book community last week appeared to publicly turn against Cait Corrain, the author of the coming sci-fi fantasy novel "Crown of Starlight," after allegations surfaced that she made fake accounts on the Amazon-owned book review platform Goodreads to post negative user reviews online about fellow authors — a practice known as review-bombing.
Del Rey Books, owned by Penguin Random House, said Monday on X that it was "aware of the ongoing discussion" around Corrain, who goes by she/they pronouns, and that her book, originally scheduled for publication on May 14, is no longer on its 2024 publishing schedule.
Corrain's book agent, Rebecca Podos, also said she has cut ties with Corrain.

They screwed themselves, BIGLY.
Hoisted by her own petard!
Said another way: don’t burn your bridges before they’ve even been built.
They claimed She did it.

Ha, ha. And this opens the way for my new sci-fi book, “Crowns of Starlight.”
I’ll just have to remember not to plagiarize, and stay in my lane.
Make sure you don't let Claudine Gaye read it--she might plagiarize large portions of it.
So it’s a “She did it”, not a “They did it”...
What you sow, you reap. Often x 10.
Amazon.com owns good reads?
No wonder I don’t like it!
I have used it to keep track of my audiobooks. Lousy site. Click heavy.
Why is *that* part of the news story, Angela Yang of NBC?
“Make sure you don’t let Claudine Gaye read it—she might plagiarize large portions of it.”
yeah, but is it REALLY plagiarism if you plagiarize something that has already been plagiarized? or is it plagiarized squared?

Ignore the trying way too hard spin, and look at the raw numbers.
It's not a huge market.
“They claimed She did it.”
No, they claimed they did it.
Goodreads used to be great until Amazon bought it.
So the reader knows Corrain is crazy.
My employer sells products to most home improvement retailers. the box stores have large social media and we have people who take a look at the reviews, mostly to see how products are being received. A couple years ago there was a very bad review about a new product. It was so bad that our guy contacted the retailer to see if they could look into it.
The retailer checked out the IP address of the review sender. The employee of our competitor was actually stupid enough to send the bad review via her company owned computer.
Well I will shut it down. Not worthwile.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they is female. I could be wrong.
Don’t let Biden know about this. He’ll jump out in front and claim it was his.
