Nice shooting under pressure:
Three people were shot, one fatally, in an exchange of gunfire on the city's Northwest Side early Saturday. Police said a 31-year-old man was in the 1600 of North Hamlin Avenue around 1:17 a.m. when he was approached by a vehicle with two men inside. The two men began to shoot firearms at the victim. The victim, who is a concealed carry license holder, pulled out his own gun and returned fire, police said.
One of the men in the vehicle, age 44, was shot in the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The victim was shot in the torso and taken to a hospital in fair condition, police said. The other man in the vehicle, age 37, was shot in the shoulder and also taken to a hospital in fair condition.
Robbery? Or hit? Or mistaken identity for a hit?
Regardless, there still ought to be a fund to buy CCL holders who successfully defend themselves a new box of ammo afterwards. It might encourage more people to help out.
CPD should hire this guy to train shooting techniques. Way too many PD shots fired with no one hit.
“Way too many PD shots fired with no one hit.”
I took a CCL shooting test last October for the grade of license that is good in all but the lefty states. I scored 24 hits out of 24 shots. Six shots were with my unsupported outstretched left arm. It was with a weapon I never fired before.
The guy doing the test said many cops don’t do this good. Now add to this the excitement factor of being shot at, and I can see how anyone’s aim could be a little off. Body armor can give confidence, but what blows confidence out the window is the possibility of a head shot or some unprotected part where there is a major artery and chance of a quick bleed out.
The CCL guy subject of this story had the will to stand his ground and the skills to hit what he was aiming at. It’s today’s good feeling story.
Thanks for posting this - I had no idea Secondcitycop blog was back! He went off the internet when the Chitcago city government under Groot started using city resources to find and dox him.

A very sincere thoughtful message.

Long ago and far away, when I was in the deep shite, the most commonly discussed fear was NOT being shot dead but being majorly damaged and partly surviving.
We were young and crazy then, not sure if my thinking is the same today, not something I dwell on.
United States Concealed Carry Association (USCCA) membership offers a legal fund to members, a sizable one. Iām a member.

Lots of great benefits, training, and more
Theres a video of a video poker room where a nerdoowell walked in to rob the place. A salted senior pulls his little pocket pistol and charges. Zero hesitation and walks directly toward the robber while firing his pistol. The dindu dropped his piece and ran away.
