That’s why you need the DNA test. :-)
I have pictures of my Dad at the beach with me when I was a baby. When he spent a lot of time in the sun he became very dark. He almost looked like a negro. I also have a picture of his mother who also had dark olive skin and who could have been mistaken for black. He took a DNA test and was 96% southern Italian, no african DNA. My test was very similar. All my grandparents were from Sicily.
If he is from Sicily….he has a lot of African DNA in him. Sicily was the first place African ships landed in the Med.
That said, no one should care. If you are in the US, you are American. (Except if you are making sauce/gravy. Then it matters.)
