He is one of the very few Hollywood actors that actually seems like a good guy.

Maybe because he has seen so much tragedy in his life up close.
His father abandoned him and his mother at age three. His best friend River Phoenix died in front of him of an overdose. His girlfriend/wife gave birth to their stillborn child. Then she died in a car accident two years later.

I recently saw a video of him. He travels on the NY City subway without body guards, and one person had a clip of him giving up his seat for a woman with a kid...and that’s only the tip of the iceberg. He seems to want nothing to do with the crappy attitude of those in Hollywood...great guy!
