The Obituary of Common Sense
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:
Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
Why the early bird gets the worm;
Life isn’t always fair; and
Maybe it was my fault.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don’t spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).
His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place.
Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.
Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.
It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.
Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.
Common Sense took a beating when you couldn’t defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.
Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realise that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.
Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son, Reason.
He is survived by his stepbrothers;
I Know My Rights
Ima Whiner
Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.
They forgot the big one. People who grew up in a free country.

How do I get a robo filter for a land line? (other than an answering machine)
I'm surprised they didn't include gasoline vehicles and meat on the list. TPTB really want to kill both of those off followed by farms.
It's a real shame that Marxism, Democratic Socialists, BLM, antifa, and Democrats aren't on the list. Those are the important things that need to disappear.
When the Milennials finally come into their own, “Boomer generation” will be more aptly renamed the “Dine-and-Dash generation”.
“Racism” won’t disappear when the white boomers are gone as their children will take the slot after them. And then their children and then their children …
There is a genuine turd blossom who’s polluted this thread
Looks like he’s being dealt with nicely
Sad fact is and yes it’s telling how bad things are
Proper Voting stats and culture awareness have declined after boomers
You can bash any generation
My grandparents gave us the Warren Court for instance and at least half of New Deal
Greatest gave us Great Society
And so on
I think it’s unarguable now though that young people across the spectrum are at least 50% left compared with youth in 1972 who voted majority Nixon over McGovern
Someone got paid to write this mindless slideshow?
Actually the greatest generation helped start the slide. I saw it in many WW2 veterans from my area: the industrial boom in the 50s caused big income increases for average jobs, and the middle class grew bigly.
These people had lived through the great depression, and when you have more stuff, you want even more stuff (that may include wanting a new spouse). Prosperity can bring increased selfishness. The children see that and become like the parents.
A good song about that is Harry Chapin’s ‘cat’s in the cradle’.
Social Security?
It’s not the baby boomers that F’d up and the list is pathetic at best.
I had a guy tell me that it wasn’t the boomers who made all that racket during the 60s. You know, Rock ‘n’ Roll, The British Invasion, Woodstock, Heavy Metal. etc. He told me it was the “SILENT GENERATION”. Funny, I never heard a peep out of the “Silent Generation”. Just crickets. I never knew they existed.
As soon as I seen the title of this thread, I knew it was going to be a boomer basher post. And you started it off just like I thought.

They call us ”The Elderly”
We were born in the 40-50-60’s.
We grew up in the 50-60-70’s.
We studied in the 60-70-80’s.
We were dating in the 70-80-90’s.
We got married and discovered the world in the 70-80-90’s.
We ventured into the 80-90’s.
We stabilized in the 2000’s.
We got wiser in the 2010’s.
And we are going firmly through and beyond 2020.
Turns out we’ve lived through EIGHT different decades...
TWO different centuries...
TWO different millennia...
We have gone from the telephone with an operator for long-distance calls to video calls to anywhere in the world.
We have gone from slides to YouTube, from vinyl records to online music, from handwritten letters to email and Whats App.
From live matches on the radio, to black and white TV, colour TV and then to 3D HD TV.
We went to the Video store and now we watch Netflix.
We got to know the first computers, punch cards, floppy disks and now we have gigabytes and megabytes on our smartphones.
We wore shorts throughout our childhood and then long trousers, Oxfords, flares, shell suits & blue jeans.
We dodged infantile paralysis, meningitis, polio, tuberculosis, swine flu and now COVID-19.
We rode skates, tricycles, bicycles, mopeds, petrol or diesel cars and now we drive hybrids or electric.
Yes, we’ve been through a lot but what a great life we’ve had!
They could describe us as “exennials”; people who were born in that world of the fifties, who had an analog childhood and a digital adulthood.
We’ve kind of “Seen-It-All”!
Our generation has literally lived through and witnessed more than any other in every dimension of life.
It is our generation that has literally adapted to “CHANGE”.
A big round of applause to all the members of a very special generation, which will be UNIQUE.

How stupid do you have to be to believe that CO2 - plant food - is a pollutant. Gen Z will follow the Neanderthals into extinction.
“How did boomers eff up?”
Not all Boomers. But the Democrat ones certainly did.
The “Boomers” found it easy, thanks to the work of the “Greatest Generation”. And their offspring found it TOO easy, and their hearts and minds began to rot. The next generations after that was a waste of skin....
The greatest generation allowed communists to take over the schools and turn many of their children into commies. No so great. They also sent us on the road to massive deficeit spending also not so great. Millions of boomers served creditably in Vietnam. And I would guess that the vast majority of Trump supporters and J6 prisoners are boomers also.
But I guess that being born in a specific time period makes you “great” and in a different time period makes you a POS.
The entire nation did it’s part in WW2. Not just the 20 year olds.
