Place the question into a different frame and the foolish repartee becomes apparent.

Two years into Syria, "why haven't we won yet?" Syria is still a mess of Syrian and Turkish and Kurdish and Russia and American forces, so "why haven't we won" is indeed an "lol."

Perhaps two years into WWII would clarify? Or two years into Viet Nam?
