I suspect the lab was merely a private business.

One can be sure the Chinese government is keen on many aspects of biotechnology research.

The Chinese government aims for China to be #1 in all important things.

We used to have a similar strategy in the USA.

Treason and biological warfare and congress thinks it’s effing funny. We used to go to war for fake WMDs, now we laugh at real ones on our soil.

That video is from July 31. I’m surprised (not!) that this isn’t major news.

The illegal laboratory was only discovered after a local code enforcement officer saw a garden hose sticking through a hole in the wall of the building.

This smells like a standard cover story used by intelligence agencies when they do not want to reveal sources and methods.

I would bet that that the agencies knew about this lab and the congressional staffer was privy to some briefings about it.

The lab was "discovered" when agency management became alarmed at what they thought was going on in the lab.

What was really going on seems to have been quite a bit worse than expected. The key factor was sloppy handling of dangerous infections disease materials.

Was there really an Ebola sample found in that lab?
