Idling doesn’t consume energy in an electric vehicle. Not a bit. If you didn’t need lights, AC or a radio, you could idle for literally years in an electric car.

Idling in a driveway is one thing. Bumper to bumper traffic is another.

The brake lights alone are a constant drain in bumper to bumper traffic, along with the wipers and defroster on many days.

...and how many days a year in New York City would you not need air conditioning or the heater?

Unlike gas tanks, batteries lose charge whether in use or not.
