Phil Collins health problems seem to have caused his retirement,
One of the best concerts I’ve ever been to was Genesis way back when at Reunion Arena in Dallas.
For some reason, remembered:

“Its no fun being an illegal alien”
Surprised it’s still around. Genesis was awesome.
Saw Steve Hackett last month, he did the entire Foxtrot album.
Never thought I’d ever get to see the whole of “Supper’s Ready” performed live.
Wind and Wuthering is a fantastic album
These were the songs that led into “Afterglow”

They are self inflicted injuries. As funny and down to earth as he seems, Collins is high maintenance and has admitted contemplating suicide in the past. He had three horrible divorces which cost him a lot of $$$ and stress. His back injury, which was caused by him falling over while drunk as he was depressed by his third divorce, has relegated him to sitting on a stool and singing.
Yep, I read Phil’s autobiography, I had no idea he was drinking so much.
And the thing is, all the other members of Genesis, including Peter and Steve, still all look great for their age.
If I could go back and see any Genesis tour, I would have seen the 1977 tour. Their sound was perfect. But unfortunately Tony and Steve could no longer co-exist.
First time i saw Genesis was 1978, And Then there were Three tour. I was maybe 14YO, had a few Genesis albums and wasn’t expecting much. I was completely blown away by everything; the concert, the light show and Collins showmanship. Completely blown away. The show i was at in ‘78 at Madison Square Garden was famous because Peter Gabriel came out for the second encore and sang “I know what i like.”
They’ve been one of my favorite bands 45 years now and i’ve seen them at least a dozen times in concert, mostly from 1978 to 1986 before they went to much pop BS for me. I also saw them in December 2021- the band sounded great but seeing Collins was horrifying, especially the way i remembers him
I have seen just about everybody in concert- my dad was NYPD and always got me great seata. During the second half of the 70’s and through the 80’s i was at the Garden almost weekly in the summer sitting in the first ten rows for every band imaginable.
Everyone says “who’s the greatest front man??” Freddie Mercury?? Not for me (and i saw Queen 4x in concert). Robert Plant?? (I adore Led Zeppelin and saw them in ‘77). Mick Jaeger? (saw them at Giants stadium). I always respond Phil Collins- he was engaging, funny, sang great and a complete showman.
Couldn't do it. I want to remember Phil as the guy dancing with the tambourine during I Know What I Like.
‘78. While i like Wind & Wuthering there was also a lot of crap on that album imo- Robbery, Assault & Battery. All in a Mouses Night. Wot Gorilla
‘78 was the mirrors tour. They had these huge mirrors over Tony Banks and the drum kits and would lean them towards the audience so you could watch them play. Those plus the light show made the concert utterly spectacular. They never matched that imo.
I also always like Daryl Stuermer. Not Steve Hackett but he was good.
My favorite memory is when he and Chester Thompson started banging on the drums in Dallas in '87. Chester was great by himself, but when Phil's set rose up next to Chesters and Phil got up there ... it was nothing short of amazing.
They played the song in 12/2021 and Collins was bouncing the tambourine- off his forehead!!! People loved it- for someone like myself who remembered how it was in the 70’s, it was both horrifying and sad.
I’d have to say my favorite Genesis song live is “Cinema Show”, when Phil and Chester drum on that.
Ditto. 50th anniversary of Foxtrot.
Nad Sylvan on the vocals can imitate both Gabriel and Collins with great skill.
Great show, they played “The Steppes” and several others from Steve’s albums as well.
I was glad they did Firth of Fifth as the encore. With the piano intro, that Tony never played live.
Wot Gorilla was basically more like Phil’s “Brand X” stuff.
But I like “All In A Mouses Night”, especially Steve’s solo at the end.
One of my favorite Genesis songs is “Inside and Out” from the “Spot The Pidgeon” EP, they played that live on some of the W&W shows.
Afterglow is one of several Genesis songs that are about a post-Nuclear holocaust.
There was “Domino” on Invisible Touch. But the best one IMHO is “Stagnation” from Trespass.
