One of the best concerts I’ve ever been to was Genesis way back when at Reunion Arena in Dallas.
First time i saw Genesis was 1978, And Then there were Three tour. I was maybe 14YO, had a few Genesis albums and wasn’t expecting much. I was completely blown away by everything; the concert, the light show and Collins showmanship. Completely blown away. The show i was at in ‘78 at Madison Square Garden was famous because Peter Gabriel came out for the second encore and sang “I know what i like.”
They’ve been one of my favorite bands 45 years now and i’ve seen them at least a dozen times in concert, mostly from 1978 to 1986 before they went to much pop BS for me. I also saw them in December 2021- the band sounded great but seeing Collins was horrifying, especially the way i remembers him
I have seen just about everybody in concert- my dad was NYPD and always got me great seata. During the second half of the 70’s and through the 80’s i was at the Garden almost weekly in the summer sitting in the first ten rows for every band imaginable.
Everyone says “who’s the greatest front man??” Freddie Mercury?? Not for me (and i saw Queen 4x in concert). Robert Plant?? (I adore Led Zeppelin and saw them in ‘77). Mick Jaeger? (saw them at Giants stadium). I always respond Phil Collins- he was engaging, funny, sang great and a complete showman.
Yep, one band I regret never seeing. I heard the concerts and light show and music was phenomenal. I would also have liked to have seen the Police.
