Hahahahahahahahahaha! I did not know about that-frickking hilarious!
I don’t know what Gary Larson is like as a person (except for his sense of humor) but the fact that he thought it was funnier mixed up says something even more about him!

I read it. The gist is that comics were too traditional and not inclusive. Leftist crap.

Ah, but it does!
So many modern households include members whose pronouns are “it” or “Thing.”

It is absolutely true that humor varies so widely, even within the same culture.
I never really read Family Circus, but I did relate to certain things...but it was kind of tame.
Never liked Garfield. Or Nancy. I was the kind of kid who loved “Johnny Quest”...that stuff just lit my kid brain on fire.
I did like some of the Al Capp stuff, too. I did like Sad Sack, though I thought Sarge always had a pair of fat buttocks protruding from where his belly was supposed to be!

Funny...I think a lot of guys could relate to Dagwood! And guys kind of thought Blondie was hot...

I was like him, in terms of being blamed for everything.
I was innocent in most cases.

I almost forgot! I did like B.C.!
I always loved it-though it no doubt would give the author of the article the vapors to even think about it! Some of the characters...like Wiley, the peg-leg who was terrified of water.
Cute Chick.
Fat Broad.
Grog.
Clumsy Carp.
That strip was appealing to me!

The word “tropes” in the title is a dead giveaway. Nobody but woketards use that word.

what a load of horse manure ... written by some humorless leftist douchebag trying to foist their humorless PC nonsense upon the rest of humanity ... in point of fact, i laughed out loud at all the comics he claims have “aged poorly, because in face, most of them are in reality timeless ...

It’s the very same idiotic leftist-think than condemns people who lived 2,000 or 1,000 or 500 or 200 years ago for not having 21st Century Woke sensibilities.

Dick Tracy had a good style of drawing too, but the stories were too detailed for me. Yeah, Prince Valiant was like that, too. Plot arcs that ran for months, as well.
