Our family tradition growing up was savory “French toast”. Rather than syrups or powdered sugar, ours is heavily salted and peppered.

Only way I can enjoy it now. Sweet French toast is strange to me.

Our family tradition growing up was savory “French toast”.

My English wife calls it "eggy-bread" ... basically, French toast without the sugar or cinnamon or any other sweetener. She eats it all of the time for breakfast or late night snacks. She can't stand the sweet version.
