I don’t think the author knows what a One Hit Wonder is.
Most of the artists on his list had plenty of hit songs.
Are they talking about “Top 40” hits, such as on the Casey Kasem countdowns, of big hit songs, as opposed to album sales, or how do we define these?
They note a hit song by Charley Pride, who I think had a number of country big hit songs, but perhaps just this one made a splash on the “Top 40” music charts.
Exactly. The Buggles were truly a one hit wonder. But Ted Nugent?
For one, Charley Pride had many songs that hit the top 10 & he won a few Grammys as well.
Right?!? Lynn Anderson had five #1 hits and 18 Top Ten hits...that does NOT sound like a “one-hit wonder”!
Even worse, Charley Pride had 29 number-one hits!!
He was the Entertainer of the Year for the CMAs in 1971 and Top Male Vocalist of the Year in 1971 AND 1972! And even bigger than that, from 1967-1977, except for two years, he was a Grammy Nominee or a Grammy Winner!
The person who put this list together is an IDIOT! And I apologize to all the idiots out there for insulting them with that association!
Video Killed The Radio Star” by The Buggles...
Was the first video played on MTV. I guess it really didn’t pan out cuz MTV is now Soap Opera Channel...
In the ‘70s’ one hit was one toke.
