Regardless of your faith and beliefs, everyone loves a light show, especially at Christmas. Not so long ago, it was considered acceptable to hang a single strand of lights on your rooftop. Now, families and even entire neighborhoods compete against one another with the choreographed chaos of hundreds of thousands of twinkling LED lights, animatronic lawn ornaments, and the oft-underappreciated inflatable Santas, snowmen and reindeer.

I love the Christmas lights. Ho! Ho! Ho! Even though I don’t hang lights myself, I am glad others do it.

Would not want to live across the street or next door to any of the houses depicted in the video.

I place a difference in limits between residential display behavior and commercial displays, and, in my view, too many people care so much about “impressing” others they care zero about their neighbors.

Yes, they are impressive and super creative. I think they are also misplaced.

The Catholic Tradition is to not place the Baby Jesus in the manger until Christmas, as he hadn’t arrived yet. The Wise Men only get placed at Epiphany. (Depending on your setup, you can have them in the distance)

My mom did this. She placed the Wise Men on the other side of the living room and moved them a bit each day closer to the manger until Epiphany.

But my brother and I used to move them back or put them in the model train display because if they could have traveled by train instead of by camel, they would have, and one year I put them in my Barbie Dream House telling my mom it was like a hotel for traveling Wise Men. She was not amused. But we never messed with the baby Jesus because that would be sacrilegious. LOL!

With that many lights, he is sure to go to heaven when he dies.

When BLM was raising HELL in Madison, Wis, I asked my brother if he was OK.

His IMMEDIATE response: “YUP—ALL THE MOTION SENSOR LANDMINES ARE IN PLACE & READY”.

Yes, we used to go every year to see it. If I am not mistaken, the city actually changed the names of the streets, to Candy Cane Lane and Lollipop Lane, though I don’t remember what the original names were.
