A Virginia restaurant that made headlines in 2018 after its owner kicked out then-White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders for being a conservative is closing its doors.
The Red Hen, located in Lexington, Virginia, was the subject of negative headlines in June 2018 when owner Stephanie Wilkinson asked the then-press secretary and seven others she was dining with at the restaurant to leave.
Wilkinson, during an interview with The Washington Post at the time, explained she was at home when her employees called her to inform her that Sanders and her family had been seated in The Red Hen.
She said she drove to the restaurant to confirm the now-Arkansas governor was indeed dining in at the establishment. Per Wilkinson, her staff was “concerned.”

Yet restaurant reviews kept saying the traffic dwindled after the Sanders incident......
some reviews even castigated the place for its political views.
Reviews also said the food was not that good.
The incident was a big problem.
The blowback from the incident has been well documented.
When you really piss off half of your customers you may be able to stumble along and barely survive for five years. But at some point. because of the incident, a rebrand at the very least may be needed.
(Snicker snicker!)
Restaurants are already hurting. Being hated by good portion of your locals cant help.
Yep. While we would all like to say it’s karma for the disgusting treatment of Sarah and family, if that were the case it would have happened a lot sooner. After the covid persecution of the restaurant industry, this is a to be expected progression
No, it’s rebranding. Owner/staff stay the same.
Trump should buy it and turn it into a all-American diner. Meatloaf, American fries, and ice cream- two scoops minimum.
Good. It was a disgrace what they did to Sarah Sanders.
Looks like the Red Hen’s chickens came home to roost😂🤣😂😎
