I believe you’re thinking of kingsnakes. Bullsnakes are pretty cool, but much more oriented toward eating rodents.
We had a cobra get loose in Alabama one year. Big posse was sent out to look for it. I drove near the area and said to myself - they will never find that snake and they never did.
Then winter came and took care of the problem. Same thing may happen here.
stay indoors and under no circumstances attempt to ensnare the serpent.

12 gauge “snare”
Yep.
I used to have a buddy who had a number of venomous snakes at his house, including a King Cobra named King (imagine that).
King was particularly agressive, attempting to strike whenever he saw a person.
One day my friend was out in the yard with his young son and was shocked to see that King’s cage was empty. He yelled to his son to get in the house and he ran towards the house himself to get his gear to capture King.
His son dashed into the house and locked the door, leaving my friend pounding on the door yelling for his boy to unlock it. His boy wasn’t about to unlock the door because King was out there somewhere.
He did eventually capture King safely.
I didn’t, but my boss had encountered them before I met him.

We average seven sub 0 F. a year, so I feel safe living in an adjacent county.
Unfortunately DuPage County, once a bastion of conservativism is being overrun by progressives running from the monster they created.
.410 semi-auto shotgun works well on those things.
could be- i just remember a sign when i wa out west that said not to kill such and such a snake (thought it was the bull snake) because they ‘look like rattle snakes but aren’t’- it was a logn time ago- so probably got it mixed up with another snake
Sounds right, but they mostly eat rodents. Kingsnakes will kill and eat rattlers.
